Please join us for a talk by Dr. Deni Seymour, the premiere archaeologist of the protohistoric era in the southern portion of the Southwest. Her recent fieldwork has resulted in the identification of Coronado expedition campsites, battlefields, and a villa near Nogales, dating from 1539 – 1542.
The knowledge gained provides new insight into the expedition and also the native nations, primarily the Sobaipuri O’odham, that lived along the San Pedro then and still live in the Tucson area. The presentation includes the thoughts of the modern descendants of the O’odham who encountered the Expedition.
