Come join us on our new monthly hike program! These hikes are your opportunity to meet AWF staff, learn about the important conservation work being done in Arizona, and learn some new naturalist skills — all while getting outdoors.
This month, we will explore the Tres Rios Wetlands and learn conservation values while practicing species identification through Merlin, a mobile app that helps identify bird species based on their call, appearance, and location. We do recommend downloading this app prior to the hike.
We will walk through the Tres Rios Wetlands area and explore various offshoot trails as we look for and identify birds. The area can be quite muddy close to the water, so please be sure to bring a practical pair of shoes — note that the area is also very flat, so this will be an easy trek. When you arrive, look for AWF Staff Member Elise, who will meet you at the dirt parking area by the entry gate. There are no restrooms, water fountains, garbage bins, or maintained trails at Tres Rios, so plan accordingly.
