Join us for a fun mass start race and Tucson Orienteering Club’s 2024 Annual General Meeting.

Location: Case Natural Resource Park, 9851 E Kenyon Dr

Courses:  For intermediate and advanced orienteers, a Peg Race, which is a mass start course with some handicapping for intermediate and advanced orienteers. Yellow for novice and beginner orienteers.

In a Peg Race, all participants start at the same time and have the same point-to-point course maps. Some of the controls will have clothespins (a “peg”) attached to the flag. The first participants to reach the control must take a clothespin and proceed to an extra control. In this way, the fastest runners will run the longest course. The winner is the runner who finishes with the most pegs. See an example of a previous Peg Race on Livelox.

The club’s Annual General Meeting will take place after courses close at noon. At the meeting we will elect directors to the board of directors to serve two year terms. More information will be distributed to all members via email in advance of the meeting.

Also! Take a tour of our club’s latest improvement–it’s the grand opening of our new portapotty and privacy tent. While we have been renting portapotties for large events recently, this is expensive and problematic. Expect to see this setup at future events! Learn how to set it up yourself!

Maps:  1:4000 orienteering map of park and desert terrain. Maps will be provided to all participants at the event site.
