Our Feature this week is Arizona Outdoor Adventures!
Children and young teens in today’s generation are surrounded less with wholesome and healthy activities that are brought by outdoor recreation. With the rise in technology, young people tend to indulge themselves in the virtual world of their computers, tablets, and phones while they forget about the beauty and enjoyment that nature brings around all of us.
Arizona Outdoor Adventures, also known as AOA, supports and promotes healthy outdoor activities for children who rarely get the chance to experience the backcountry and its charming wilderness. With the partnership and support of other youth organizations, AOA gets to bring a group of children to experience a 3-5 day adventure in the countryside of Arizona’s White Mountains. A series of camping sessions are formed from May through October every year, in which the organization provides all of the camping necessities and licenses at no charge.
Each camping session is filled with high-quality and safe activities for every child, including but not limited to experiences such as fishing, backpacking, horseback riding, outdoor cooking, and much more! AOA’s mission is to benefit the youth by supporting them with outdoor entertainment, while also teaching the young generation about cooperation, responsibility, and how to have respect for nature that the environment provides to us.
At the end of the day, physical exertion in group outdoor activities while learning how to preserve the Earth’s environment are much more productive and rewarding than watching television or playing video games! AOA also makes it possible to volunteer and support the cause by helping out with a variety of projects such as assistance with mailings, setting up camping sites, and even aiding at AOA event booths to continue to spread education on how any families’ children can join in on the fun!
Interested volunteers can visit AOA to fill out an online form and get more info on how to become connected.
Within the mission of letting young ones enjoy their lives in nature and learning how to respect the outdoors, the organization finds importance in teaching growing individuals how to make constructive decisions for themselves while also supporting them in achieving their dreams. These teachable moments, provided by the wonderful people who keep AOA thriving, strive to guide the children of the state and aim to create a well-rounded generation!
