Lovers of the forest and people who take advantage of what nature walks have to offer are highly encouraged to check out TRACKS White Mountains! TRACKS is a nonprofit volunteer group that works alongside the US Forest Service to help preserve, promote, and protect the trails in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests of northeastern Arizona.

TRACKS works towards supporting the enjoyment of the experiences provided from the White Mountain Trail System (WMTS) by maintaining these non-motorized trails and spreading resources for education and social events. The White Mountain Trail System is a number of multi-use loop and connector trails that range from the community of Vernon on the east to the communities of Clay Springs and Linden on the west.

While most traditional trails start from a point A and end at a point B, the unique feature of the WMTS loop trail is continuous and returns to point A! The connector trails connect each loop trail and allow for various lengths of hiking paths that visitors can choose from, depending if they want a quick pleasant walk or a backpacking trip. Each of the trails are designed to explore the natural beauty and vistas while also keeping up with the preservation of the land and wildlife habitats in the area.

With a current roster of 600+ members, these individuals volunteer towards keeping the tracks clean, serving as trail stewards, and assisting with special projects such as building new trails. Individuals who are interested in becoming a TRACK member can visit TRACKS White Mountians to learn more about joining their free membership!

Members of TRACKS are welcome to join in on monthly meetings, along with having full access to hiking, trail crew, mountain biking, and cross-country skiing activities. Whether family and friends are interested in joining in on the fun of TRACKS mission or just experiencing what the WMTS trails have to offer, visitors are bound to enjoy the wonderful experiences and scenic views that are aimed to maintain generational preservation with the help of highly dedicated members.
