Please join the ATA on December 7-8 on Passage 16 in the Mineral Mountains near Kearny for a trail work event. We will establish a campsite on Friday evening before heading out Saturday morning north towards the hill. This 2 day project will focus on brushing, [removing of vegetation from trail corridor to keep the trail open to users], treadwork, [repairing or improving the trail surface], and drainage work [constructing, clearing, or improving the excavated trail features to divert water away from the tread].
This is a front country event – we will be camping at the BLM trailhead at the end of Centurion Road. Participants will need to bring their own camping gear, clothing and gear. The ATA will provide all meals from Saturday lunch to Sunday lunch.
This is a routine maintenance type work event which means we’ll be working with hand saws, loppers, rakes, pick mattocks, cutters, rogue hoes, pulaskis, spades, and Mcleods. All tools and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided. This project is rated as moderate, as we will be working up a fairly steep hill. No prior trail work experience is required – we’ll provide necessary instruction and guidance for new volunteers.
