The AZT VETS Program and Coronado National Forest Service will host this Veteran Volunteer Work Weekend near the famous High Jinks Ranch just outside Oracle’s town. During this hitch, our main objective will be to improve the lower section of Passage 12c of the Arizona Trail (also known as Oracle Ridge Trail), which has been subjected to heavy machine traffic. We will focus our efforts at the west end of Campo Bonito Rd, working south toward Mt Lemmon. Work will include brushing, tread widening, drainage improvements, and potentially gate installations!

There is no cost to participate, and meals are provided. Pre-registration is required. Adults of all ages and abilities are welcome, but please remember that most trail work activities involve many miles of hiking and moderate-strenuous physical engagement.

Dates: Participants will arrive at basecamp off Campo Bonito Rd, March 23, between 1400-1600. After picking your campsite, we can introduce ourselves while we relax and enjoy some good food & and maybe a little music! Trail work will continue through Sunday, March 26.

Camping: Basecamp is located in a primitive (dispersed) area less than 100 yards from the trailhead. The Arizona Trail Association will provide food, water, and snacks for the duration of the event. We pride ourselves on offering top-quality camp meals–accommodations may be primitive, but our hospitality will prove otherwise! Volunteers should bring their own tent, sleeping bag/mattress, mess kit, and personal gear. A gear list will also be provided after signing up.

We look forward to seeing you on the trail!
