The ATA VETS Program and Coronado National Forest Service are hosting this Veteran Volunteer Work Weekend continuing to build a brand new reroute section on Passage 4 of the AZT near the picturesque town of Patagonia, AZ. For more information about the Temporal Gulch Reroute Project, please visit https://aztrail.org/explore/passages/passage-4-temporal-gulch/.

There is a $20 registration fee which will reserve your spot and help cover food and transportation costs for the event. Once you’ve registered, we will send you a link to process your payment. Please contact us if you are unable to cover this fee, and we will be more than willing to assist individuals on a case-by-case basis.

Most meals will be provided at no extra cost to participants. Pre-registration is required. All ages and abilities are welcome, but please keep in mind that most trail work activities involve many miles of hiking and moderate/strenuous physical labor.

The work schedule will be as follows:

Thursday, February 24 – Meet at the group parking area off Casa Blanca Canyon Rd in the afternoon to discuss transportation to the campsite, event logistics, meet other participants, and review priorities for the weekend. Caravan to basecamp. Dinner at camp.

Friday & Saturday, February 25/26 – Breakfast at camp, trail work throughout the day, lunch on the trail, and dinner at camp.

Sunday, February 27 – Breakfast at camp, trail work for 2-4 hours, lunch near basecamp, and then depart in the afternoon.

Registration for this opportunity is limited to 12 volunteers, so sign-up today! Please note – this opportunity is open to veterans only. It is a time for veterans to gather as a community, share past experiences, and build new ones working together on the Arizona National Scenic Trail.

For more information, please contact Chappy (chappy@aztrail.org) or leave a message at (970) 779-5740.

COVID Note:

The ATA will be continuing COVID protocols until such measures have been deemed unnecessary by the appropriate officials. The summary document instructs volunteers to refrain from participation in any AZT activity if they have symptoms of or believe they may have been recently exposed to COVID-19. Please monitor your own health regularly and let us know if anything changes prior to or immediately after the event.
