The ATA VETS Program and Coronado National Forest Service are hosting this Veteran Volunteer Work Weekend (VVWW) continuing to build a brand new reroute section on Passage 4 of the Arizona Trail near the picturesque town of Patagonia, AZ.
As a special bonus, we will be celebrating the birthday of one of our regular veteran volunteers, Collin Nolen!
For more information about the Temporal Gulch Reroute Project, please visit https://aztrail.org/explore/passages/passage-4-temporal-gulch/.
There is a $20 registration fee which will reserve your spot and help cover food and transportation costs for the event. Once you’ve registered, we will send you a link to process your payment. Please contact us if you are unable to cover this fee, and we will be more than willing to assist individuals on a case-by-case basis.
Most meals will be provided at no extra cost to participants. Pre-registration is required. All ages and abilities are welcome, but please keep in mind that trail work activity may involve miles of hiking and moderate/strenuous physical labor.
The schedule will be as follows:
Thursday, April 21 – Meet at the turnoff near AZ82 & Casa Blanca Canyon Rd in the afternoon to coordinate transportation to the campsite. Caravan to basecamp. Volunteers will set up shelters, followed by a meet & greet, homemade dinner, and a fireside safety brief.
Friday & Saturday, April 22/23 – Breakfast at camp, quick tool and trail construction class, work & lunch on site, and dinner at camp.
Sunday, April 24 – Breakfast at camp, trail work for 2-4 hours (weather & time permitting), share feedback, and then depart in early afternoon.
Registration for this opportunity is limited to 15 volunteers, so sign-up today! Please note – this opportunity is open to veterans only. It is a time for veterans to gather as a community, share past experiences, and build new ones working together on the Arizona National Scenic Trail.

Please monitor your own health regularly and let us know if anything changes prior to or immediately after the event.
