Join us for a backpacking style work event deep in the Superstition Wilderness at Pine Creek!
The plan is to hike in on Friday, November 18 from the Campaign trailhead. The hike is approximately 4.5 miles with a 1800 foot elevation gain. Because of continued effects from the Woodbury fire, the trail conditions may not be ideal – this is a hike for experienced backpackers. Water is available at Pine Creek but requires filtering or chemical treatment. We will bring a group filter to use at camp. Trail work Saturday and Sunday will be aimed at stabilizing trail between Boulder Saddle and camp – about 1.5 miles of trail. Mostly vegetation management with some tread stabilization. We will have pack support for shared meals and tools, but all personal gear must be carried in by participants. Hike out Sunday.
Participants are asked to contribute $50 for the 4-day adventure to help offset the costs of food and fuel for our equestrian support. A pay link will be sent to confirmed participants. (If this cost presents a barrier to your participation, scholarships may be available to help defer it.)
Registrants will have to demonstrate their preparedness for this strenuous backcountry adventure. Access to the Campaign Trailhead requires high clearance 4wd. Carpools from the highway are available.
