Cliff Fielding, Our Desert…Drought, Fire, Rescues, and a Shining Tree on the Hill
Cliff Fielding has been fascinated with cacti and succulents since he was a teenager. His home in Ahwatukee is a showcase of native and non-native cacti, and a nursery for rare and common specimens. He is a member of a Tucson organization that removes native plants from land that is about to be developed.
On August 9th Cliff will give a brief observational view of some of the challenges our local desert is facing.
- The effects of the extended drought in Arizona. (Hopefully alleviated in some part by August).
- Examine how the desert has recovered from the Bush fire from two years ago.
- Present information on a large group in Tucson that are saving cactus from development.
- A quick look at a unique plant that lives on South Mountain
The Desert Rivers Audubon Society Monthly Speaker Series is now offered in person (Sept-Apr) and on Zoom (year-round) on the second Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m.
