It’s back! Join Rangers Derik and Kevin for a day of hiking from Cave Creek Regional Park to Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area. Trail is approximately 11 miles in length, and utilizes the Go John, Maricopa, and Spur Cross trails. Trail conditions are rated moderate to difficult, so expect a considerable amount of loose rock, uneven terrain and elevation change. This is not a hike for inexperienced or beginning hikers, but perfect for seasoned hikers. Please bring plenty of water (at least three liters recommended) and snacks, and wear sturdy, closed-toe footwear. Proper clothing (layers), sunscreen, and hat are strongly recommended. Trekking poles may be useful. It is also a good idea to leave some extra water in your vehicle for your return. Restrooms are available near the trailhead, and water can be found at the Nature Center. No pets, please. This is a one-way through hike (not round trip), with one group leaving from Spur Cross Ranch and one group leaving from Cave Creek.

IMPORTANT: It is the hiker’s responsibility to coordinate with others for a ride back to the starting point or arrange for someone to pick you up; we cannot transport people back to the starting point in our county vehicles. MEETING LOCATION: Go John Trailhead Limit 12 participants.

To register, please call the Nature Center at (602) 506-2930 ext. 8 with your name, phone number and number of people attending. Also please let the park staff know which park Cave Creek or Spur Cross Conservation Area you will be starting at on the morning of the 24th. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please call the Nature Center ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list. Registration for this program will close on 2/23/24.
