Join us for our annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service as we honor Dr. King’s legacy through community action and river stewardship! Friends of the Verde River, along with a coalition of local partners, is organizing a day of volunteer service to help protect and restore the Verde River and its vital tributaries.
The Verde River is a lifeline for the communities of the Verde Valley, and we need your help to preserve its health for future generations. This year, we will offer volunteer opportunities at several key locations throughout the Verde Valley and beyond, or you can participate by organizing a clean-up project in your own community. Choose the site that works best for you, or select your own location for a personalized service experience.
Tentative Work Locations
(Please note: Locations are subject to change. Final site details will be provided closer to the event.)
- Camp Verde: Clear Creek River Access
- Chino Valley: Munds Draw
- Cottonwood: Dead Horse Ranch State Park
- Prescott: Watson Woods Riparian Preserve
- Sedona: Arizona Cypress Trailhead or Crescent Moon Picnic Site
- DIY Community Clean-Up: Organize a project at a location of your choice
Volunteers at these sites will engage in a variety of stewardship activities, including habitat restoration, invasive plant removal, trail maintenance, and river clean-ups. Each location will have its own unique set of tasks, and we welcome individuals, families, and groups to participate.

- Where: Multiple locations throughout the Verde Valley (final locations to be announced)
- What to Bring: Long sleeves, sturdy shoes, work gloves, a reusable water bottle, and a positive attitude!
