Join Ranger Eric for a guided hike along the Rock Peak Wash Trail to look for reptiles of the Sonoran Desert. Along the way, we will discuss identification tips, their ecological roles, and safety around venomous animals. We will hike 2-3 miles roundtrip on easy, but sandy terrain of a desert wash. Please wear protective clothing and/or sunscreen, wear sturdy footwear, and carry ample water, electrolytes, and snacks for yourself. The hike may be shortened if extreme heat is forecasted.
MEETING LOCATION: Rock Peak Wash Trailhead at the south end of the park (see map here: https://www.maricopacountyparks.net/assets/1/6/san-tan-8×11.pdf). Restrooms are not available at the trailhead, but are available at the Nature Center.
