Join Ranger Eric to look for and learn about the resident and migratory birds of the Sonoran Desert on this easy to moderate 3.4-mile roundtrip hike. Along the way, we will also discuss ecology of the desert and how birds are adapted to this arid environment. Spring songbird migration will be at peak and the desert washes may harbor lots of colorful and interesting species. We will meet at the Trailhead Staging Area, walk the short distance to the Wildlife Pond, then do a loop including segments of Ford Canyon, Waddell, and Mesquite Trails. We will have access to restrooms at the Trailhead Staging Area, Area 9, and Area 7 while we do the loop. See page 2 of the park map here for best view of trail details: https://www.maricopacountyparks.net/assets/1/6/white-tank-8×11.pdf. Please wear sun protection and sturdy footwear, carry ample water and snacks, and binoculars or camera if you have them. MEETING LOCATION: Trailhead Staging Area by Wildlife Pond Trailhead.
