Are you looking to do a difficult, challenging hike, but don’t want to go by yourself? Join Ranger Kevin for a 6.5-mile hike on the extremely difficult, but incredibly scenic, Spur Cross, Tortuga, and Elephant Mountain trails. We’ll keep an eye out for morning critters as we go. If you’re doing the 100 in 100 challenge, this is a great way to knock some miles off! Trail conditions are rated extremely difficult, so expect nearly continuous loose rock, uneven terrain and elevation change. This is not for inexperienced or beginning hikers, but perfect for seasoned hikers seeking a challenge. Please bring plenty of water (at least four liters recommended plus electrolyte packets) and snacks, and wear sturdy, closed-toe footwear. Proper clothing (layers), sunscreen, and hat are strongly recommended. Trekking poles will be useful. It is also a good idea to leave some extra water in your vehicle for your return. Restrooms are available at the trailhead. Please, NO pets.
Meeting Location: Spur Cross Trailhead (past the entry station near the covered picnic tables and restrooms).
Limit 10 participants. To register, please call the Nature Center at (602) 506-2930 ext. 8 with your name, phone number and number of people attending.
