East Woodland Road
Sign up on the Field Trip Page

Trip difficulty: Moderate. 2-mile hiking round trip on uneven surfaces. No restrooms or drinking water available.

Driving directions: Tanque Verde Road east of Catalina Highway to Woodland Road. Right turn onto Woodland Road and continue south until the road bends and turns west. We will meet where the road turns west. Park along the road, avoiding driveways. If possible, please consider carpooling, as parking is limited.

We will start out walking along the road and checking the telephone poles for the Lewis’s woodpecker that has been sighted in the area. We will then continue onto the open grassland trails immediately adjacent to the road, checking for various sparrows, towhees, and others. If time permits, we will check the large cottonwoods for woodpeckers and warblers. Wrap up around 10:30 am. Sunhat, water and good walking shoes are recommended. Limited to 12 participants.
