Join Ranger Kevin for an easy hike while learning some fascinating things about desert trees. Click program title for more details.

Join Ranger Kevin for a roughly 2.5-mile hike along the Spur Cross, Metate and Fairy Duster Trails. We’ll discover how some of the most common desert trees are related to each other. We’ll also dig into some of the truly fabulous adaptations that allow them to thrive in a punishing desert climate. The trail is rated easy with few rocky or unstable surfaces and little elevation change. Please wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes and bring plenty of water. Hats and sunscreen are also highly recommended. NO pets, please. MEETING LOCATION: The Spur Cross Trailhead, which can be found past the entry station, near the Porta potties and picnic tables.
Please note: Entry to Spur Cross Conservation Area is $3 per person. Annual Pass or CASH are accepted, and exact change is much appreciated.

Limit 20 participants. To register, please call the Cave Creek Nature Center at (602) 506-2930 ext. 8 with your name, phone number and number of people attending. Make sure you register for the Saturday, 4/1/23, 2pm Desert Trees hike at Spur Cross. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please call the Nature Center ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list.
