Join Ranger Steve for a moderate round trip hike on the Dragonfly Loop Trail as we learn about the uniqueness of the Sonoran Desert. Click program title for more details.

What makes the Sonoran Desert special? Why do cacti have spines? What’s inside a rattlesnake rattle? Join Ranger Steve on a short 3-mile hike along the riparian habitat of the Dragonfly Trail to learn about the history, geology, climate, and wildlife of the Sonoran Desert! Trails are mostly easy with some up-and-down and rocky sections. Please wear closed-toe shoes, bring a hat, and carry plenty of water!

MEETING LOCATION: Jewel of the Creek Parking Lot (small lot on the left side of the road before you get to the Spur Cross lot at the end of the road). Porta potties are located 200 ft beyond the parking lot. No water available, so bring your own.

Please note: Entry to Spur Cross Conservation Area is $3 per person. Annual Pass or CASH are accepted, and exact change is much appreciated.

Limit 20 participants. To register, please call the Cave Creek Nature Center at (602) 506-2930 ext. 8 with your name, phone number and number of people attending.
