Join the ATA for National Public Lands Day! This year, the theme for NPLD is Giving Back Together. During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, America’s public lands acted as a safe haven for recreation, conversation, and the simple enjoyment of being outside the confines of our homes. In a time of disconnectedness and uncertainty, the outdoors brought people together and deepened our appreciation for the important role these spaces play in our lives. Now it’s time for us to return the favor, and your help on the AZT is just what we need!
We plan to split up into crews to do some trimming, clean drains, remove large rocks, and improve the tread. One crew will drive 5 miles south on Lake Mary Road to work on Lakeview Campground Connector Trail maintenance. Other than the connector trail, the trail is quite flat and easy to walk.
Participants should bring their own water, snacks, and lunch. If participants have their own PPE (hard hat, gloves, eye protection), they should bring it with them.
COVID Note: The ATA asks that volunteers refrain from participation in any AZT activity if they have symptoms of or believe they may have been recently exposed to COVID-19. Please monitor your own health regulary and let us know if anything changes prior to or immediately after the event.
