Most shooters will use a semi-auto rifle, pistol and shotgun. Matches generally involve 2-3 courses of fire where the shooter must move through different stages and engage targets in a variety of different positions. Each stage will generally require the use of different firearms and require the shooter to transition between them.
We recommend bringing a minimum of 100 rounds for Pistol & Rifle. Shotgun: 50 birdshot 11/8 oz.#71/2 or 8’s at 1200 FPS & 10 low recoil slugs. No steel/bimetal core or steel shot, shot larger than #6 & magnum loads are aloud. Always bring an extra box of each in the event of a reshoot or we run a stage again.
Ear, eye protection and foot wear that encloses the toes are mandatory (no sandals).
Minimum equipment is: center fire pistol, holster that covers the trigger, belt, magazines, pouches for mags & shells, rifle & shotgun. Cross draw, inside the waist band and shoulder holsters are not permitted.
There are different divisions for types of firearms used, age & gender. The targets might include clay pigeons, cardboard silhouettes, steel targets of varying sizes and anything else the match organizer designates as a target. Distances of the targets might vary from 1 yard to 200 yards or anything in between.
