Do you want to learn about and see hundreds of elk in one place at one time? Join us for the annual elk viewing workshop! Hosted through the Arizona Game and Fish Department (AZGFD), this event includes a 1-hour presentation held at the AZGFD Flagstaff Regional Office (3500 S Lake Mary Rd) and then we will caravan to watch elk on Mormon lake (we will provide directions on the day of, after the presentation, to the viewing location) where we will have scopes and binoculars available to use.
Participants can register for either the 8:45 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. session. During this event, you will attend an indoor presentation to learn about elk in Arizona then go see the amazing Arizona elk on Mormon Lake. Walking will be minimal during the field trip. The viewing location will be determined that day based on where the elk are observed. Participants will need to provide their own transportation from the presentation to the nearby viewing location (the viewing location directions will be provided after the presentation, on the day of the event).
Spotting scopes will be provided at the site, and participants are encouraged to bring binoculars, water, snacks, and to wear appropriate clothing and footwear for standing and weather conditions. Cost is $20/participant. YOU MUST REGISTER TO ATTEND. CASH WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AT THE DOOR. Due to the change of venue for the talk, seats are even more limited than in the past, and there will most likely be a waiting list. So register today! If you need assistance with registration, please contact Cheyenne Towne, ctowne@azgfd.gov or call 602-509-8122.
