Join Ranger Kevin for a 3-mile hike on the Yavapai trail. Trail is rated moderate, with some stretches of loose rock, uneven terrain and elevation change. Our goal is to watch the sun rise over the lake from the trail, and then head up to the peak for one of the best views of the entire lake and vicinity. As we go, we’ll also be on the lookout for all kinds of wildlife. Some animals we may see include mule deer, javelina, squirrels, rabbits, birds and perhaps a reptile or two. Please wear sturdy closed-toe shoes and bring plenty of water. Hats and sunscreen are also highly recommended. Restrooms are available near the trailhead. No pets, please.
MEETING LOCATION: Cottonwood Day Use Area/Trailhead, accessed from the North Entrance. If the parking lot by the restrooms is full, you can park in the picnic area parking nearby. See park map here: https://www.maricopacountyparks.net/assets/1/6/lake-pleasant-8×111.pdf
Limit 20 participants. To register, please email Ranger Kevin at kevin.thorson@maricopa.gov with your name, phone number and number of people attending. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please email ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list. Registration for this program will close on 3/1/24.
