Join Ranger Kevin for an approximately 3-mile hike on the Spur Cross, Metate, and Fairy Duster trails. We will be talking about the importance of native plants in restoring desert habitat that has been degraded due to things like wildfire, human use and overgrazing. We may even get the opportunity to observe as “seed bombs” are deployed in several areas along the route to facilitate the health and biodiversity of Spur Cross Conservation Area. Trails are rated easy to moderate, with some areas of loose rock, uneven terrain and elevation change. Please wear sturdy closed-toe shoes and bring plenty of water. Hats and sunscreen are highly recommended. Port-a-potties are available near the parking area. No pets, please.
MEETING LOCATION: Spur Cross Trailhead (past entry station near covered picnic tables and port-a-potties).
Limit 20 participants. To register, please call the Visitor Center at 602-506-2930 ext. 8 with your name, phone number and number of people attending.
