Limit 20 people. Join rangers to look for nocturnal wildlife. Click on this program title for more details.

Join rangers to look for and learn about the nocturnal critters of the Sonoran Desert! The Desert Outdoor Center at Lake Pleasant is usually open to private groups only and there is an access gate; registered participants will be given a temporary gate code to use. Please bring your own water, flashlights, and blacklights if you have them. Restrooms are available at the Desert Outdoor Center. We will be going on a easy to moderate hike on the Honeymoon Trail, likely hiking 0.5-1 mile altogether. We will first take a look at live captive reptiles inside exhibits in the Center, then go on the hike. While looking for critters, we will keep an eye out for our MC Parks EcoBlitz species of the month, the western banded gecko! Monsoon thunderstorms are possible, but we could shelter in the Center to wait out shorter-lived storms if necessary. Space is limited. To register, please email Ranger Eric at eric.hough@maricopa.gov.
