Understanding how different animals use their habitat is important to making wildlife management decisions to help conserve and protect species. But, how are biologists able to know this information if they can’t always see the animals? The answer lies in the ability to track wildlife.

Join educators from the Arizona Game and Fish Department as we explore the different ways that biologists track wildlife movements. We will move from more traditional tracking methods to more modern technology-based strategies. Throughout the program, we will be focusing on ways to bring this information into your own classroom.

This FREE in-person workshop is designed specifically for educators. Read the information below before registering.

EDUCATION ACTIVITIES AND RESOURCES
Activities have been designed with the new Arizona science standards in mind. In addition to the general science content (DCIs), the Science and Engineering Practices (e.g., obtaining, evaluating and communicating information) and relevant Crosscutting Concepts (e.g., patterns, structure and function) will be incorporated. When possible, we will even explore the use of phenomena to drive student exploration and engagement.

Most activities will likely fall within the 3rd – 8th grade levels. However, there will be opportunities to discuss how they can be modified for younger or older audiences.

Participants will receive numerous resources and a certificate for 3 hours of professional development credit.

SCHEDULE AND LOCATION NOTES
This workshop will take place at the Lake Havasu branch of the Mohave County Library District. We will be in one of the conference rooms. It is possible that we will spend some time outdoors around the vicinity of the library as well.
