SUMMARY:Archaeology Hike at Red Rock State Park
DESCRIPTION:Red Rock State Park offers a 1½–2-hour guided hike exploring the ancient Sinagua culture (1100–1425 AD) and other Native American groups who once lived and traveled in the area. Participants will see archaeological features along easy to moderate trails (about 250 ft elevation gain) and may begin with a short presentation on the region’s pre-Columbian history. \n\n\n\n\nNote\n\nHike is included with park entrance fees. \n\n$10.00 ages 14 and up\n$5.00 ages 7 – 13\nFree for ages 6 and under\n\nAlso note: \n\n\n\nRESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED: please call (928) 282-6907. Call the park starting the first day of the month of the event to reserve your spot.

Witness the Milky Way come alive above you\, stretching from the southern horizon to the northeast\, sparkling with billions of stars. Through our telescopes\, you may glimpse giant nebulae\, globular clusters\, exploded stars\, double stars\, and even distant galaxies. \nKeep an eye to the west for a possible view of Mars as it sets\, and toward the end of the session\, enjoy a closer look at the ringed beauty of Saturn\, with Neptune nearby. This is your chance to see the cosmos like never before! \nEvent Guidelines: \n\n\nArrive at the park entrance by 6:15 PM to guarantee participation; late arrivals cannot enter after the gate closes. \n\n\nNo pets allowed\, even if left in vehicles. \n\n\nEach group should bring at least one flashlight or headlamp (red lens preferred). \n\n\nClosed-toe shoes are strongly recommended. \n\n\nThis is an after-hours program – only registered participants can enter the park. \n\n\nProgram Schedule: \n\n\nFirst Hour: Engaging PowerPoint presentation by ASTROVerde astronomy club members \n\n\nSecond Hour: Hands-on star and planet viewing through telescopes \n\n\nExperience the night sky like never before – an unforgettable journey through our galaxy and beyond!
