SUMMARY:Lowlands of Flagstaff Volunteering
DESCRIPTION:Lowlands of Flag Trail Work\nJoin us to do some trail maintenance on Passage 32 between Walnut Canyon & Elden. \nHere are the details:\nWe’ll hike in ~2.5 miles with tools & take care of some brushing\, tread work\, & drains. This section of trail winds through junipers\, pine trees\, & features some fun little rock features. There isn’t a lot of elevation gain\, but we will be at ~6500 ft. Make sure you bring water\, sunscreen\, electrolytes\, & layers. Camping remains banned in this area\, but there places just outside of the Flagstaff mountains off of Lake Mary road\, past the peaks\, & north off of 89. \nTrail work will include:\nBrushing\nTreadwork\nDrainage Work \nDifficulty Rating:\nModerate: Accessible to first time volunteers but challenging in terms of access and/or intensity of work. Often this means either the hike in may be hard\, but the work is relatively easy or the reverse but not both being hard. \nMeeting Location:\nCosnino Rd just before RR crossing\, park on BNSF road

SUMMARY:Bird Walk at San Pedro House
DESCRIPTION:The San Pedro Riparian National Conservation Area (SPRNCA) provides habitat for over 100 species of breeding birds. The San Pedro River is also a critical avian migration corridor that provides water\, food\, and shelter for another 250 migratory and wintering birds. Novice and experienced bird watchers attend our bird walks to view the diverse avian community of the SPRNCA. We usually observe 30-60 species on these popular two-to-three-hour walks. Bring water\, a hat\, and binoculars. All are welcome\, but the walks may not be suitable for young children.  These walks can be moderately difficult on uneven terrain. No dogs\, please. All walks are free\, no reservations required.  Meet at the San Pedro House\, 9800 E. Highway 90. For more information\, call (520) 508-4445 or email fspr@sanpedroriver.org. Hosted by the Friends of the San Pedro River.

SUMMARY:Nature Walk at San Pedro House
DESCRIPTION:The San Pedro River is one of the last free flowing rivers in the Southwest and home to one of the largest cottonwood-willow riparian forests remaining in Arizona. On this walk we will discuss the interactions of the components that make up the ecosystem of the river and its importance to the surrounding area. The walks are 1.5 to 2 miles long over easy terrain. These are slower paced than a hike and suitable for most adults and children. The San Pedro House is located 7 miles east of SierraVista on Highway 90\, on the south side of the highway. It is searchable in Google Maps.

SUMMARY:History Walk to Murray Springs Clovis Site
DESCRIPTION:Join FSPR docent Dwight Long for a tour of the Murray Springs mammoth kill site. Vance Haynes led an expedition here in the1970s that found the remains of megafauna that had been hunted\, killed\, butchered\, and consumed by the Clovis Paleo-Indians 13\,000 years ago. This is an easy walk of less than a half mile\, though it does include dirt steps into and out of a dry wash. Please realistically assess your ability to do this walk. There is no shade\, and it will be hot on sunny days.  Wear a hat\, sun protection\, appropriate clothing\, and sturdy shoes.  Bring water and snacks. From E. Highway 90/AZ-90 in Sierra Vista\, drive north on Moson Rd. for 1.28 miles and turn east.  Meet the docent at the gate to the site. The entrance to the site is searchable as  “Murray Springs Clovis Site” in Google Maps. For more information\, call (520) 508-4445 or email fspr@sanpedroriver.org.

SUMMARY:Walnut Canyon Connections Trail Maintenance
DESCRIPTION:Walnut Canyon Connections\nJoin us to do some trail maintenance on Passage 31 near Walnut Canyon. \nHere are the details:\nWe’ll hike < 1mile & cover both connectors with tools & take care of some brushing\, tread work\, & drains. We might go further if there’s time. This section of trail winds through junipers\, pine trees\, & features some fun little rock features. There isn’t a lot of elevation gain\, but we will be at ~6500 ft. Make sure you bring water\, sunscreen\, electrolytes\, & layers. Camping remains banned in this area\, but there places just outside of the Flagstaff mountains off of Lake Mary road\, hwy 180 past the peaks\, & north off of 89. \nMeeting Location:\nOld Walnut Canyon road where the trail crosses from Campbell Mesa. https://maps.app.goo.gl/mk5dnPH7vmwFE5jR9?g_st=com.google.maps.preview.copy
