SUMMARY:Stand Up Paddleboard Class
DESCRIPTION:Are you ready to SUP? \nThis is a hands-on Stand-Up-Paddleboard class in Phoenix. There will be a “classroom” session followed by putting theory into practice–actually using a SUP on the water. This course is designed to equip paddlers with basic skills to get from point A to point B successfully\, to understand the legal responsibilities that come with getting on the water\, and to know what to do in emergency situations. AZGFD provides all of the paddle equipment including life jackets. Shade and seating will be provided but feel free to bring your own comfy camp chair for the “classroom” portion. Bring a lunch or snack to eat after the classroom portion and before we get on the water. Wear shoes that can get wet. Don’t forget a towel and a change of clothes as you will get wet 🙂 Students must be 10 years of age or older in order to attend. If you are registering a minor under the age of 18\, a parent or guardian over the age of 18 must accompany them to the class.

SUMMARY:Name That Species
DESCRIPTION:Explore the beauty of Rogers Lake County Natural Area\, just outside Flagstaff\, with the Arizona Wildlife Federation! This special place features a variety of habitats: wetlands\, grasslands\, Ponderosa pine\, and Gambel oak. This mosaic supports a rich diversity of wildlife and native plants. \nWhile Rogers Lake\, which is an ephemeral lake\, often dries in late summer\, after a good monsoon or wet season\, the lakebed transforms into the perfect place for migratory waterfowl and other wildlife to gather. During the drier periods\, the area provides prime grazing grounds for large herds of elk that descend from Woody Ridge at dawn and dusk. With a bit of luck\, we might catch a glimpse of these majestic animals and other wildlife that frequent the area! \nDuring the hike\, we will utilize the mobile apps iNaturalist\, Seek by iNaturalist\, and Merlin to identify all sorts of flora and fauna in the area! We highly recommend you download these apps prior to attending.

SUMMARY:Trail Work Days
DESCRIPTION:Yavapai Trails Association has worked with Prescott National Forest to set up each 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month as a trail workday. \nAt our work events you may enjoy routine brushing or trail building\, and occasionally we’ll spend a Saturday doing something a bit more adventurous. We may hike out further or do a slightly different type of work. Emails will go out prior to each work event with all the details. Please read them carefully to decide which work events are a good fit for you. \nYou may sign up to receive work event emails by sending an email to: yta.benefit@gmail.com and requesting to be added to our email list for volunteer workers. You do not need to be a member to join us for work events\, although we would appreciate it. Keep your eyes on our website and those emails! There may be opportunities for work every Saturday. \nThank you and Happy Trails! \nLook for an email just before each scheduled workday to remind you to RSVP and announce the location. Thank you for all your volunteer hours. \n*If you have them\, please bring your own hard hat/bike helmet\, gloves\, and eye protection. If you don’t have them\, we are able to provide those items. As always\, make sure to wear long sleeve shirts\, pants\, closed-toe shoes\, and bring snacks/water for the morning.

Suggested rideshare for short drives $2 person; longer drives $5 per person. \nBlue Ridge lower trail follows Billy Creek and winds its way through a wet meadow and oak-pine woods.
