DESCRIPTION:SIGN UP TODAY for Operation Singletrack Sortie II \n(AZT VETS Program – Veteran Volunteer Work Weekend) \nSanta Rita Singletrack Reroute | Operation Freedom March (OFM) Event \nFollowing the opening push of the season\, the AZT VETS Program returns to the Santa Rita Mountains to build on momentum and drive the Santa Rita Singletrack Reroute closer to completion. \nFrom April 2 – April 5\, 2026\, this follow-on operation welcomes both returning and first-time participants to continue constructing new tread\, refining corridor flow\, and strengthening the trail for long-term sustainability. As an official Operation Freedom March event\, this mission remains open to veterans\, families\, and supporters committed to service through stewardship. \n📅 Event Schedule \nThursday\, April 2\nArrival and camp setup (location details to follow)\nFireside meet & greet with the AZT VETS crew\nDinner and safety briefing \nFriday & Saturday\, April 3-4\nBreakfast at camp\nTrail design & construction refresher (tools\, techniques\, safety)\nNew tread construction and corridor shaping (lunch provided on-site)\nEvening meals and campfire camaraderie \nSunday\, April 5 (Easter)\nBreakfast and optional morning work session (weather permitting)\nGroup gratitude circle and project recap\nEarly afternoon departure \n🪓 Details \nMeals: Most meals provided at no cost\nRegistration: Pre-registration required; limited capacity\nWho’s Invited: Veterans\, military families\, and supporters (Operation Freedom March)\nTrail Work: Moderate to strenuous physical labor; all experience levels welcome—training provided \n⚠️ Health & Safety \nThe ATA will continue to follow health protocols as recommended by public health officials. DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Arizona Public Lands Day: An All Afield Hike with AWF + AZT in Sandy’s Canyon\nSaturday\, April 4\, 2026 @ 8:30 AM \nJoin us for a guided hike in Sandy’s Canyon near Flagstaff\, Arizona\, as we celebrate Arizona Public Lands Day in partnership with the Arizona Trail Association. This hidden canyon offers a beautiful place to experience northern Arizona’s landscapes while connecting with the public lands that support wildlife\, recreation\, and outdoor traditions across our state. \nWe begin along the canyon rim before descending into Sandy’s Canyon\, where dramatic rock walls and ponderosa pine forest create a striking backdrop. After about 1.5 miles\, we’ll reach the Arizona Trail\, one of Arizona’s most iconic long-distance trails\, before turning around and hiking back the same way. \nAlong the way\, we’ll talk about the importance of Arizona’s public lands\, how trails like the Arizona Trail connect landscapes and communities\, and how these places support wildlife and outdoor recreation.
