DESCRIPTION:Grit & Granite: Operation Twin Canyons\nJoin the AZT VETS (Veteran Engagement & Trail Stewardship) Program\, with support from Coronado National Forest and Pima County Parks & Recreation\, as we improve the trail corridor on Passages 6B & 7A of the Arizona National Scenic Trail! \nEvent Schedule:\nThursday\, April 10: Meet off Highway AZ-83\, near Lakes Rd. Volunteers will set up shelters\, followed by a meet-and-greet\, a homemade dinner\, and a fireside safety briefing.\nFriday & Saturday\, April 11 – 12: Enjoy breakfast at camp\, followed by a quick tool and trail construction class. We’ll work on the trail\, with lunch provided on-site\, and conclude the day with dinner back at camp.\nSunday\, April 13: After breakfast\, we’ll continue trail work for 2-4 hours (weather permitting)\, gather for feedback\, and wrap up with an early afternoon departure. \nDetails:\nMost meals are provided at no extra cost to participants. Pre-registration is required\, and we welcome all ages and abilities. However\, please remember that trail work may involve hiking several miles and engaging in moderate to strenuous physical labor. Registration is limited to 16 volunteers\, so sign up today!\nThis opportunity is for veterans only. It provides a space for service members to connect\, share experiences\, and create new memories while working together on the Arizona National Scenic Trail. \nSafety Note:\nThe ATA will continue COVID-19 protocols as recommended by health officials. We ask that volunteers avoid participating in this event if they are experiencing symptoms or suspect recent exposure to COVID-19.
