Get Involved: BOA Events

There are two kinds of BOA Events available. One is events where Be Outdoors Arizona participates, spreading the word about BOA and, at this early stage, recruiting new members and volunteers. We also sponsor workshops related to kids and the outdoors. We will announce these programs on our News page.

The other is actual outdoor programs for kids by a variety of program providers, following the BOA Pledge and "best practices" findings of BOA's Standards and Evaluations committee.

About our ‘Best Practices’ Approach

There are a variety of places and ways to Be Outdoors Arizona! In order to get the most from outdoor experiences, BOAz has compiled a set of ‘Best Practices’ that reference aspects of the setting, programming, facilitation, and overall experience for children in nature. These practices are founded in current research and supported by observations and suggestions from many field professionals. By adopting the BOAz Pledge, individuals and member organizations proclaim their commitment to strive for these high standards.

BOAz encourages all organizations throughout Arizona to utilize our self review process to evaluate and develop their outdoor sites and programming to best support connections between children and nature.

Getting Your Program Listed

Our outdoors program database is currently in development. However, we're hoping to list a few standout programs that fulfill both the BOA Pledge and our current Best Practices. Send requests for programs to be listed that meet both criteria to Lisa Hermann, the chair for the Standards and Evaluations Committee.
